Catalogue research methodology
Eligibility, counting, translation, privacy, and limitation rules for Kyanite.tv research.
Methodology updated:
Eligible records and cutoff
Research snapshots include catalogue records marked available and not marked hidden at the stated cutoff. The generator requests only content type, year, English-title presence, synopsis presence, and genre/country labels from the public CMS.
Counts describe the catalogue snapshot, not audience demand, viewing activity, market share, territorial rights, or permanent playback availability.
Counting rules
- Each eligible title contributes once to its content-type and release-year totals.
- A title with several genres or countries contributes once to each distinct label, so those dimensions do not sum to the title total.
- Known Russian and English aliases are merged into one bilingual label before aggregation.
- Missing labels remain missing; they are not inferred from titles, descriptions, or stream information.
- Percentages are rounded to one decimal place after counts are calculated.
Privacy, safety, and reproducibility
Published datasets contain aggregate counts only. They exclude title IDs, provider IDs, stream origins, playback URLs, access tokens, user activity, and personal data.
The versioned generator checks that every eligible record was processed before replacing the public snapshot. CSV and JSON outputs carry the same cutoff and can be downloaded from each report.
